“Your life is your practice. Your spiritual practice does not occur someplace other than in your life right now, and your life is nowhere other than where you are. You are looking for answers, insight, and wisdom that you already possess. Live the life in front of you, be the life you are, and see what you find out for yourself.”
– Karen Maezen Miller, Momma Zen
This quote from Karen Maezen Miller inspired me those many years ago when I first became a mother. It is in that spirit of “your life is your practice” that my new book, The Invitation of Motherhood: Uncovering the Spiritual Lessons of Parenting, was born. And, after many years of late-night writing, it is here!
Thank you to each of you who has supported me along this journey. And thank you to those who have been reading my blog reflections over the years – and for the thoughts you’ve shared about your own experiences of mothering along the way. Writing has been a ballast for me, particularly during the choppier times. These reflections over the past nine years, which eventually crystalized into this book, have helped to solidify the lessons learned on this steep and beautiful path.
I invite you to join me in continuing to dive in and dig deep as we celebrate motherhood and all that it entails!
